The Model A Restoration Guidelines
And Judging Standards Project Status
Tim Johnstone
MARC Publication Committee Representative
Editor's Note: Revision 3 to the Restoration Guidelines and Judging Standards has been a very long and time consuming project. For MARC this project started in earnest near the end of Sam Nixon's term as JSC Chairman (2004). From a business perspective, there were a number of issues that needed to be resolved prior to beginning the joint effort between MARC and MAFCA. With these initial issues resolved the joint effort began in the summer of 2008. What initially seemed to be a reasonably straight forward and simple task became much more involved, complex, and time consuming that anyone ever anticipated. The delays are in part due to the detailed research needed to answer many questions. The more the documents, drawings, and photos were studied additional questions became apparent and also needed to be resolved. Many of the new photographs were developed by first locating and obtaining the part, then restoring the item, and finally photographing and enhancing the picture. The intent of this project is to provide our membership and the Model A hobby in general the most detailed and complete document available on the development and changes to the Model "A" Ford. I became involved in this project from the business perspective in 2006 as the Director of Publications, through 2009 as the President, and currently as the MARC Board of Director's liaison for the project. On behalf of the 2006 to present MARC Board of Directors I would like to thank the Publications Committee, Judging Standards Committee, and all volunteers that contributed or worked on this project. - Frank Pollack (This page will be updated as more information becomes available [original update 8/5/10])
.
The last revision to this publication was printed in 1997 and since that time a wealth of new information has been developed by both the MAFCA and MARC Judging Standards Committees.
