On Sunday, August 20th, we visited the city of San Antonio de Areco, about 120 kms from the city of Buenos Aires. We had a shiny day but very cold, about 0 C , but it wasn’t a problem for our Model A’s or for us. In Argentina we can use our cars during all the seasons except down south where winter is extremely cold. We got there after a trip of about one hour enjoying the view of our countryside and making a bit of a traffic jam, but this was no problem because all the other cars salute us with their hands or blowing their horns. The city of Areco is very old and very important in our tradition. It was founded about two hundred years ago and received many immigrants, especially Irish people that came to Argentina to settle down at the beginning of the last century. It still keeps old buildings in pretty good shape and it’s very nice to drive our A’s through the streets and enjoy the faces of everyone that watch us go by.
I always comment how incredible it is that when you go driving you’re and people see the car, they immediately smile to you and the car and it doesn’t happen with any other old car. Our Model A’s have very much to do with Areco’s history because they helped farmers do all kinds of hard jobs, and you can bet that there are still some working hard right now!!! We had our picnic by the old Railway Station with the company of some old Steam Engines
