Welcome to Jr. MARC the organization working to bring the Model A Hobby to a new and younger generation.

With close to 10,000 members, the Model A Restorer’s Club is a strong and vibrant collection of enthusiasts who are united by their common enjoyment of Model A Fords.

Created in 1953, MARC has a long standing tradition of providing a forum for the discussion of and immersion in the Model A hobby for people of all walks of life and interest levels.

Jr. MARC works to continue that tradition by bringing the hobby to new generations to help keep the club and the hobby alive and well for another 50 years.  Through education programs and assistance programs we strive to get, and maintain, the interest of younger generations in one of the finest automobiles the world has ever seen.

MODEL A FORD YOUTH SCHOLARSHIP FUND, INC.
.
Do you know there is a Scholarship Program available to all MARC and MAFCA children and grandchildren? Well you should, it is for your children.
.
The Model A Ford Youth Scholarship Fund, Inc. a 501 (c) (3) charity was founded in 2001 with the first award being presented in 2002. Since that first award, over $120 thousand dollars have been awarded to 35 children of both MARC and MAFCA.
.
This award is fairly new to the members of MARC so let me tell you about the award. It is open to all children and grandchildren of MARC and MAFCA members. The applicant can be a member on his/her own.
.
Let me answer some questions you may have:
.
Are there any fees involved?
Absolutely not, the scholarship is free.
.
Do the scholarship award winners pay income tax on the award money?
They do not pay income tax on the award money from the scholarship fund if the money goes directly to an accredited college or trade school.
.
How much is the award?
The scholarship winners will get a maximum total of $4,000 payable in up to four $1,000 installments depending on the length of time of their undergraduate studies depending on maintaining at least a 2.0 GPA.
.
When and where will the Scholarship Awards be made?
The awards will be presented on even years at MAFCA and odd years at MARC National conventions. Winners not present will be mailed their award checks.
.
How much of the donations go to the Scholarship Winners?
All of the donations go into the Scholarship Fund and from there directly to the award winners.
.
What part does the sponsor, the Victoria Association play?
The Victoria Association pays all costs of maintaining the Scholarship Fund. No donated money goes to the Victoria Association.
.
How is the Scholarship Funded?
The Scholarship raises money by soliciting donations from the various MARC Regions and MAFCA Chapters, by personal donations, corporate donations and fund raising efforts of the many MAFCA and MARC Regions and individual members. MARC and MAFCA make generous donations to the fund.
.
Who administers the fund?
.
The fund Board of Directors administers the fund operations and selects the winners.
.
We sincerely hope that the MARC regions become familiar with the Model A Ford Youth Scholarship Fund program and get their youth members interested. The fund is there to help the youth. To carry on this program it is necessary for the MARC Regions and MAFCA Chapters to help support the fund and to keep this great youth Scholarship program going and growing.
.
Please see the write up on page 23 of the Model A News September/October 2008 issue.
.
.
Since the 2008 3rd Joint Meet in Dallas, we have had two changes to the Board of Directors. The new Board members are:
.
Charlie Viosca, Texas – President-pro-tem; Keith Smith, California – Treasurer;
John Frazee, California – Vice-President; Dean Larson, Massachussetts – Student Records;
Ginger Stone, California – Secretary
.
We hope to hear from you soon,

MODEL A YOUTH RESTORATION AWARD
.
How many MARC members know that there are funds available to youngsters owning and presently restoring a Model A Ford? Well there certainly is such a program.
.
.The Model A Youth Restoration award has been around since 1994 but is fairly new to the MARC membership. It is all about helping Model A Youth restore their Model A’s by receiving money and gift certificates to obtain parts to restore their Model A Ford automobiles. Since 1994, there have been 36 youth receiving over $36,000 in funds. The amount of the funds given each award year amounts to the number of applicants divided into the money in the fund.
.
The award is funded entirely by donations from Chapters of MAFCA and Regions of MARC. There are 11 chapters/regions pledging donations of $250 each year. We also get donations in varying amounts from other chapters/regions and individuals as well as from MARC and MAFCA. Some send in donations as memorials to deceased members. For a Region to become a financial sponsor the Region will have to agree to donate $250.00 each year to the Restoration Award. Or they can make one $500.00, which will be applied for two years. You must understand that this is not binding should your Region be unable to make a donation for a reason such as being short of funds. You will be excused from making the payment and to resume when the situation changes. So far we have not had any chapters/regions fail to meet their obligation. Please see contact information at the end if your chapter/region would like to participate,
.
At the 2008 Joint Meet in Dallas, two MARC youth, Frank Vitetta of Pembroke Pines, FL. and Chris Mills of Lexington, KY. each received free 1931 Victoria’s donated by the Restoration Award. The award is presented every two years at either a MARC or MAFCA National meet and the next awards will be presented at the 2010 MARC National.
.
The award is open to all sons/daughters or grandsons/granddaughters of members of MARC or MAFCA or the applicant may be a member on his/her own.
.
Qualifications:
.
  1. The applicant shall be between 12 and 21 years of age.
  2. The applicant must possess and be in the process of restoring a Model A or AA Ford.
  3. The restoration activity must be directed toward completing a Blue Ribbon or Fine Point Touring .Class Model A Ford. Help can be provided and is encouraged.
  4. Proof of applicant’s ownership must be provided.
  5. The restoration shall be intended for personal use (not for resale or by contract for another individual).
  6. Modified or Hot-Rod projects are not eligible for consideration.
  7. The applicant must keep receipts for parts purchased with the funds awarded to them. For repeat applicants, the receipts must be sent to the award program to continue receiving funds from the program. Remember the award is an approved educational charity by the IRS and the funds must be used on the restoration project.
.
.
Sincerely,
Charlie Viosca

About the MARC Youth Committee

In the Summer of 2000 the MARC Board of Directors recognized the need to expose a different generation with the Model A hobby. They put out a search for a leader and in the Winter of 2001 chose Tim Cunningham to be the Youth Coordinator.

In 2003 the Youth Program was given an official name of Jr. MARC.
